Students Graduate from SUNY Delhi Spring 2019
More than 690 students graduated from SUNY Delhi in May 2019. Commencement was held on May 18, and over 750 certificates, associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees were conferred upon the Class of 2019. Golf and Sports Turf Management students receive scholarships.
Six students in the Golf and Sports Turf Management program received scholarships from the New York State Turfgrass Association this year. Andrew Wacendak, The Steven V. Moffett III Scholarship Sean Carroll, NYS Turfgrass Association Scholarship Connor Ryan, NYS Turfgrass Association Scholarship Sean Tillman, NYS Turfgrass Association Scholarship Mario Malagisi, NYS Turfgrass Association Scholarship Dylan Beckstead, Morales Family Scholarship Dominic Morales from NYS Turfgrass Association Board of Directors came to campus in March to present the students with plaques in recognition of their academic achievement. SUNY Delhi is one of the nation's leading colleges for golf and grounds management, offering both an associate's degree and a bachelor's degree in Golf and Sports Turf Management. The program is designed to teach the theory and practice of proper turf management and the bachelor's degree is the only program in the Northeast that combines the science of turf management with business and communications proficiency. Over 160 students were celebrated as part of the Kente Graduation Recognition Ceremony. Oswego Baseball Three-Peats as SUNYAC Champion
The second-seeded Oswego State baseball team completed a perfect 3-0 run through the SUNYAC Championship with a win over top-seeded Cortland for its third-straight tournament title. With the victory, Oswego earns the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship, which will be the Lakers' fifth-straight appearance in the national tournament

Nazareth College Students Present at History Honor Society Conference
Six members of Nazareth College's national history honor society presented original research papers at the New York/West Central Regional Phi Alpha Theta History Conference at the University of Buffalo in mid-April. The students include: Joshua Fess, Freddy Stein, Erika Klock, Sarah Dugas, Jacob Kabat, and Jessica McCane. There were 52 papers presented by students representing 13 colleges and universities in New York, Pennsylvania, and Canada. Joshua Fess won a "Best of the Conference" for his paper titled Regimental Trivialization: The Lost Legacy of Rochester's Eighth New York Volunteer Cavalry. Phi Alpha Theta is honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. The society boasts over 400,000 members with around 9,000 new members joining each year through 970 national chapters.

Students compete in GSCAA Turf Bowl
Ten Golf and Sports Turf students spent seven days in San Diego, CA in February 2019 to compete in the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America's (GCSAA) annual Collegiate Turf Bowl Competition. SUNY Delhi placed 15th and 33rd out of 63 teams and captured first and third in the score for the case study section of the exam. Read more about their experience.

Students serve, learn in Puerto Rico for spring break
Eight SUNY Oneonta students traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico over spring break to continue Hurricane Maria cleanup efforts through NECHAMA, a volunteer-driven nonprofit. The students cleaned, swept, hammered, painted, worked on roofs and more to help improve the area. They were accompanied by Associate Professor of Biology Sean Robinson and Center for Social Responsibility and Community Director Linda Drake. They stayed in an Airbnb with other NECHAMA volunteers, got to see the lush flora and fauna of the island, went on some very muddy hikes, and did some sightseeing in Old San Juan.
